About Us

What is Off the Record?

Off the Record (OTR) is Lehigh University’s all-gender a cappella group, founded in 2009. Today, we are a 19–member SATB ensemble made up of students from across campus who share a love for making music. We pride ourselves on being more than just a performing group — OTR is a family. We call ourselves the Otters, and every new member joins as a Baby Otter before becoming part of the pod.

Our group balances fun with excellence, creating a welcoming space where singers can relax, connect, and express themselves through music. Every year we perform at campus traditions, community events, and national competitions like ICCA. We’re known for our story-driven, original arrangements — all written by members of OTR — which allow us to bring a unique voice and perspective to the a cappella stage. Whether it’s performing at Lehigh’s Founder’s Day, singing the national anthem at a Phillies game, or competing in front of hundreds, we put our hearts into every note.

What makes Off the Record truly special is the bond between its members and fans. We’re passionate about music, but just as passionate about each other. OTR is a place where lifelong friendships are formed, creativity thrives, and the joy of performing is shared with everyone who listens.
